I'm trying to remember what I was doing when I turned 19. On paper that was a LONG time ago, but in my mind it was just like yesterday. Nineteen, oh sweet nineteen. I had the world at my fingertips... I had a decent job, a couple of college courses behind me, a fake ID, a new car that I had paid for myself, and a super fun group of girlfriends who all like to go out dancing just like I did. (That fake ID wasn't for just buying cocktails, you know) I could listen and lip sync to Madonna singing "I'm Burning Up For Your Love," for HOURS. I was dating a 29 year old, (seems creepy now, but it really wasn't) I went on ski trips, attended dinner parties, and went to vegas for the very first time. I was just living my life like there were a million more years to come.
My nephew Christian is turning 19 today. Now this guy, this guy has got the world not only at his fingertips, but on a string as well. He lives and goes to college in New York City. He has like 3 jobs, 800+ friends on his Facebook, speaks fluent french and parties like a rock star. I have no doubt his life will be full and unique and it's so exciting to watch it unfold.
I love you Christian and hope you'll never think of me as that "Old Ass Aunt who just won't leave me be..." You're my touchstone and make me laugh like nobody else can.
And PS... "Give me back my THIGHS, Bitch... don't make me come and get you, because I will, I know where you live."
I hope I'm not the only person to read this because it is BEAUTIFUL! I'm glad you think so highly of me ;) LOVE you and I can't wait to get back to my 'old ass aunt that wont leave me alone' <3

I remember
It was so long ago
I was in Aberdeen, Scotland
My world was wonderful and crazy
If I went back, I would do it all so differently now
