Man, it's all of sudden it turned summer here in ole' EP. It's as if I went to bed one cold winter night and woke up to the 4th of July. It's HOT. No complaining here though. And the best news of all we're getting a new Air Conditioner. I complained enough times last year that our Swamp Cooler acted more like a Swamp Heater and I guess our Property Manager listened. We're without any air right now, so it's a bit stale here, but in 2 more days we should be grabbing for sweaters again, because I plan to have it turned way down.
Having a week off from teaching has been fun. My days have been stress free and I have gotten some extra sleep, spent a day in Mexico with my dad, started a new book, started cleaning out my office space, painted a few pieces of junk furniture I acquired last year and I've caught up on some old time tv shows. With tons of repeats it seems like there isn't anything to watch. Now, don't laugh, but I've taken up watching the
Game Show Network alot and it really has been fun being reuinited with such shows as, Match Game, Card Sharks and Password. But the all time best show ever has got to be
The Love Connection. I've even been taping it so TL can watch it with me at night. Remember how BIG that show was way back when, when it was on prime time? Well, now that it's been like 20 years and it's even better. The hairstyles, the make-up, the clothes... Not to mention ole' Chuck Woolery. He was so hot! Remember how when they would introduce each person they would say a little about them, and then
Type up their information in the lower lefthand corner? Things like
JEFFREY SAUTER
Engineer
28 Years Old
Never Been Married
And then it would make like a typewriter sound...? Remember that? It's all just sooo
The Love Connection. Well, anyway last night during our nightly viewing of an episode, TL could be overheard saying things during each portion of the Bio being typed up... Things like,
"Engineer? NERD..." "Nice Clogs dude..." "Never been married? More like never been laid!" When this one complete dork appeared on the screen, TL yelled out...
"Whoaaa... It looks like Prince ate Jaimee Foxx" I guess you had to be there, but I couldn't help but crack UP.
Speaking of game shows, I've searched and searched for that show,
Win, Lose or Draw, remember that show? Well, back in 1988 I tried out for it and actually got picked to be on... I remember doing up my big hairdo, wearing the coolest (read: LOUD) jacket and dragging two of my best friends up to Burbank to be my audience participation. My mom even made a big sign for them to hold up in case they ever got on TV, it said
"HI MOM!" Anyway... I never did make it on an episode. They filmed 5 shows that day, and needed only 10 contestants, but called 15 of us to show up. Then they drew names before each show and my name just never got picked. Darn too, because I so rocked at that game. Oh well.
