days late and a dollar short...

This has been sort of a crazy week... Between my work and sleep schedule and the limited computer access I have, I wasn't able to report on my picks for AI.

Last week I was 2 for 3 but not disappointed in that third person at all. I enjoyed Michael's performance as well, and since he's an Oklahoma boy, it's all good.

As for this week... I was only 1 for 3. The Top 3 that were chosen on Thursday night's show, I can honestly say, were not my Top 3.

Here is what I wanted...

Mishavonna, Kris and Megan (my favorite girl on the show) all have pure voices, the type I like to listen to...

Here are the 3 that were picked by America...

Kris, Allison and Adam...

So, woo hoo for Kris... but, these other two singers screamers, not so much. These two are hugely popular, but I just don't get it. Apparantly, I'm slightly "outta touch."

I still have high hopes for Megan as the Wild Card show will allow 3 rejects to move on. Okay, so she does do that weird robotic-screw-top-shoulder-dance thing, but this girl can sing!

I've wrestled with this idea for years... I like change, no I don't, yes I do, no I don't, yes I do...

In my opinion this new way of doing things on American Idol is GREAT! The dwindling down is backwards from the way they used to do it. Instead of only kicking off the bottom 2 or 3, they are only moving on the Top guy and the Top girl and then the 3rd most popular of each night. They are going to have the Top 36 split up between 3 different nights, allow the top 3 from each night to move on to the Top 9, and then have a 4th night of all the rejects perform one more time, called the Wild Card night; the top 3 from that night will then add to the Top 9 to make up the Top 12. (It's really not that confusing, I just make it that way when I speak...)

I wasn't sure, I mean only passing on 3 from each night is scary, because what if you like 6 of them? How sad is that for the 4th, 5th, and 6th person? I mean, how sad for me that is. But, after watching last night's episode of the first 12 of the Top 36, there were only 3 that I actually liked, so me and AI are moving in together. We're in love. Shut-up, it can happen.

This means that I won't be forced to have to listen week after week to the "deaf-toned," or the "stiff-knee'd" or the "Hey, it was you Randy Jackson who called me your 'Dawg,' so I thought I was actually a good singer," singers any more than just the 2 times. Whew.

Only a handful of my original top 6 were on last night's episode, and I have to admit that I was incorrect on a few of them. (See, I can admit when I'm wrong as some of you have stated it's an impossible task for me... "Hi TL!")

...he needs a tan and maybe a new stylist, but he's just a little reminiscent of my "all-time-favorite..." and hell, who wouldn't fall for a genuine church singer...?

Now this 3rd most popular position is up for grabs... So many were just "Oh-So-Bad," but I was able to pick out the one I feel should get another chance...

blah, blah, blah...

I've got the blah's. It's just a January/February thing. Can't stand them. I'm telling you for the past 4 years January/February have not been my finer moments in time. We lost Tony in 06, Doris in 07, I broke my ankle in 08 and 09? WTF? In just the last 30 days, I've locked my keys in the car twice, tripped on my own pant leg, gotten a ticket at work for not displaying my $68.00 a month parking pass that I'd just forgotten to display, paid the $60.00 parking ticket fee, lost access to my PC at home, and pee'd my pants a couple of times, once from laughing and once, from well, just standing. And just last week the worst of all, I heard that a dear friend from Dallas passed away from breast cancer. She was only 40 years old.

Shall I go on...? I think not.

And why, why did I go and decide NOT to watch American Idol this year? Who knows, but I'm all in. I caught up this past week, and am definitely on board now. I don't know if I'm more excited that for some reason Simon is all of a suddenly sexy to me and now I get to see him every week for the next 3 months or if it's because this year, there is no Kristy Lee Cook and her damn crooked knee thing that I'm forced to see weekly because America refused to kick her off on night one like I told them to. Either way, I've got the butterfly's and me and AI are like, so totally BFF's.

Danny Gokey He may not be the "best singer" of the group, but his story and genuineness hooked me hook, line and sinker!
