It's been a while since I jibber-jabbered...
We ended up not going up to Santa Barbara this weekend. I guess the wine can wait. But next weekend we're going to take the train down to San Diego, stay over night and watch college football. I'm most excited about THIS game!!
We had a very nice and enjoyable Turkey Day. I gave thanks for family and especially TL. He's my favorite person in the whole world and the fact that he loves me as much as he does, just makes getting up in the morning all so very worth it. Oh and he dances really funny.
My favorite memory of the day was when I asked my 7 year old niece to try the Cranberry Salad that I made. It's an old family recipe handed down from my mother's father's mother, Moo Moo. She was hesitant at first, but she did try it and actually exclaimed quite quickly... "Mmmm, I love this salad!" She asked for seconds and then the next day she asked me if we could sit down together and have another piece. I told her that her Grandma Pat sure would be proud and pretty excited that she too, loved this old family tradition and her response to me was... "Well, how can we tell her, she needs to know this information right away." I laughed and said... "Oh she knows, she's in your heart and knows everything about you." And with that she just smiled real wide and took an even bigger bite.
What I'm most looking forward to as the holidays approach is the return of my nephew, Christian from college. We've been non-stop texting each other about how excited we are to hang out together, drink lots of spirts and we have a whole day planned just for us. I see a convertable, celebrity stalking and unlimited laughter in our future.
TV... I tried, I really tried to give up tv earlier this year, but it just ain't stickin'.
My new favorite show is... "Whatever, Martha." Totally snarky and totally fun. Martha's own daughter, Alexis and her kooky friend, Jennifer, call Martha out on all her BS. They say what we've all been thinking all these years. They say things like, "WHAT? I have to whittle my birch branches for Smore sticks, why, so that the marshmallows don't get splinters?" and, "Is Martha wearing MOM Jeans...?" And I especially love that Alexis, continually puts to rest the myth that she had the perfect upbringing, no doting mother, no constant perfection, and no fancy Birthday parties, more like, "Oh, I forgot it was your Birthday, here is a cake and now let's go bob for some apples..." She's cynical as hell and snarky too. I've laughed out loud seveal times... Love it.
My other favorite show is... The Starter Wife. I've only watched a few, but have about 7 of them saved on my TiVo. I plan to have a marathon day in a few weeks and watch them all at once. All I need is the remote, a fire in the fireplace and a vat of egg nog. It's gonna be awesome!!
Up next...... The Christmas Countdown number five.
