Each month at work, the people I work with (but are housed in a seperate building) and I get together for what we like to call "First Friday." We order lunch from some place special and one of us brings a dessert. Well, this coming (first) Friday, it is my turn to bring the dessert... I know, what was I thinking? Trust me I've already instructed TL to have phone handy at all times while I am preparing said dessert. You know, to call 911 in case of kitchen disaster.
I'm very much against going the whole store bought routine, even though it probably would be the honorable thing for me to do, as I really do enjoy all of my co-workers and would hate for any of them to end up at Baylor. All kidding aside, I'm determined to create, bake or whip something up with my own two hands. Something with a bit of an impact, but possibly on the light side. I think we're going the Italian route for lunch, so most of them probably won't be too hungry. But I'd still like to knock their socks off...
I'm putting out the call for any and all suggestions, recipe's included please. Email me your ideas! Afterwards I will post the winner and a full report of my attempt at making the dish. I might even let you in on the reactions of coworkers. Especially if they go on and on about how wonderful the delight is... Now remember, I'm a bit of a novice in the kitchen, but as long as I have a recipe I think I can manage fairly well.

I had intended to write all kinds of wonderful things about my best friend and husband, TL. But with only 17 minutes left in the night before our special day is over, I only have time left to say; I love you with all of my heart. Knowing you and having you in my life has given me the extraodinary experience of true love, true laughter and true happiness. And, for that I thank you and cherish you. Celebrations are to be had for big occasions such as second wedding anniversaries, but "staying in," eating some take out Thai food and toasting each other and to our future journey together was just what made this anniversary the best one so far. I love you...
Never did I ever imagine I would have as much fun as I did with this little journal... Months ago I got an invitation from this cool Maine chick asking me to join in the fun with this thing called The Collective Souls Journal. I knew right away I wanted to be involved since it would give me the opportunity to meet other ladies who have fun journals, along with a project to collaborate on. I am always looking for new sites to read, dive into and learn from. (You should see my bookmarks, it is long as the day and I read all of them; some daily, some weekly, but I do read all of them) Anyway, when I first signed up, I really had no idea how talented these other ladies were and how much enjoyment I was going to get out the project. I have to confess as I waited for the journal to come to my house, I didn't really know what to expect. I mean, I had looked at the Photos (please go and look it is just amazing...) and saw what everyone else was doing, but I guess until I had the actual book in my possesion I had no idea how magical it really was (is).
So here is my contribution and I hope everyone else will enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them. The book is off to the South, I hope it gets there safe and sound. Howdy to Giao!
It seems like forever ago that I paid my little site here any attention... so sorry little site of mine! But, I have good reason, I've been a crafting maniac as of late. I wanted to share with you one of my favorite projects I was hired for... An upcoming Birthday Luau for a 10 year old's Birthday Party. I made 75 Invites. ::Blink Blink, Blinkity Blink:: Yeah, that's what I thought too... "Who in the hell knows 75 people?" But even more so, "Who in the hell knows 75 people at 10 years old?" Well, I didn't worry about that for long. I accepted the job gladly and with a huge smile on my face and dollar signs floating above my head... I love you Mr. Franklin. So off to the cutting, the gluing, the stuffing, and then more of the cutting and... Voila; 75 Birthday Luau Invites!
I went with the whole Luau theme... Flip Flops. Get it?
A Sea of Flip Flops... all 75 of them!
Open up for the details...
I used vellum envelopes so that even the postal person would be entertained...
It should be some P.A.R.T.Y.
I've also been working on my contribution for the Collective Souls Journal. I finally finished up my pages (I think I got into it just a bit too much, but we'll see...) and will get it shipped off on Friday (3 days shy of my allotted 3 week time limit. WHEW!) I had SOOO much fun doing this and seeing everyone's creations. It will be so hard to part with. I'll post pictures soon.
We're off to the races... Today we're going to Lone Star Park for a day of horse races. There will be plenty of ponies, pretty hats and mint juleps for all. With the crown glory of races to go down at 5:04 pm (cst), I will have all my hopes, dreams and rent money all on one and only one horse. I've done the research, I did my homework all week and have come up with who I think will be the winner of the Kentucky Derby.
Isn't he pretty? He just has all the elements I look for in a horse and besides his mama's goes by the name of Divine Dixie, which is exactly what I always thought I should have been named! What was my mama thinking? Wish me luck...
No win for me. I did have enough sense to put some money on one of those Long Shot horses, just not the right one. Hind sight is 20-20. Damn!
::Update ~ Update::
Reviewing today's paper and reading all about the KD, I was horrified to find out just exactly where my horse placed. With all the comotion yesterday I didn't see or hear... But today I was blessed with the information. I'll give you one guess. Yes, last. Dead Last. I suck.
Someone once asked me why is it that I rarely speak of "the husband," TL. They said that I need to share more stories of his romantic ways, what our courtship was like, and how it was that he captured my heart and made me all his.
Well, be careful what you ask for people. Here it is, here is one thing I can show you. A little taste of what I live with on a daily basis. A little peek into his true self. No longer will you wonder. No longer will you all ever doubt it when I say he's special. Below are 3 little photo's of a snippet of our day; his birthday, my gift to him and his gift back to me...
